Berkhamsted has good train links into London and is well located for accessing major trunk roads. It is steeped in history going back to the times of William the conqueror. Berkhamsted is surrounded by beautiful countryside, in particular the Ashridge forest where there are endless walks and where deer roam free. You will find the most impressive Ashridge Management College, which originally began life as a monastery. This beautiful building is well worth a visit and is open to the public on certain days. At the very least it is worth a drive by during the day or especially at night when the building is impressively lit.
